TSTT, one of the leading and most advanced communications service providers in Trinidad and Tobago, are deploying wireless and fiber-optic networks, providing subscribers with voice, data and multimedia capabilities. TSTT's vision is to become the standard in cutting edge telecom services in Trinidad and Tobago, enriching the lives of over half a million Trinidadians, and is committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of its customers. In order to fulfill that commitment, TSTT has deployed Argon, Elemt's new point of sale solution. This whitepaper outlines some of the problems faced by TSTT and their bMobile authorized channel partners. This whitepaper will also address how Argon’s deployment solves these problems by providing: a secure, efficient, and transparent PoS platform that enables TSTT to fully track and manage their progress on targets and KPIs set for their channel partners.
After researching in-store wait times and analyzing customer behaviors during peak traffic hours, as well as diving into challenges brought up by TSTT and their partners directly, we identified a few key challenges that needed to be addressed with our solution.
- One of TSTT's targets was to increase its product offering by adding data plans and bundles to its catalog. Prior to Argon, customers had to take unnecessary steps to purchase data bundles, as they were required to top-up their phones with mobile credit, and then convert that credit into plans by using mobile dialing codes.
- TSTT also required improved visibility on the platform and added administrative features for their channel partners.
- The previous platform used by TSTT had multiple UX issues that would delay processing times and would keep customers in line longer. During peak hours this resulted in frustrated clients that could not be served in a timely fashion. Additionally, the training process for the channel partners and store clerks to use the POS system was complicated and time consuming.
- TSTT’s channel partners were unable to process multiple transactions at once, resulting in increased wait times for clients that had multiple mobile phones to recharge.
- TSTT was unable to ensure that reconciliation and monetary accounting for movement of products within their systems were accurate, traceable, and representative of actual cash collected. In other words, tracking and reporting each of their channel partners was a major issue that had to be addressed.
Argon is a Point of Sale system that has web-based, real-time transaction processing capabilities to support the distribution and retail of products, both on web and native applications. Features include:

The platform also allows store owners to create and manage user accounts, limiting access to sensitive information and functionality. Users are able to create IP-based permissions, restricting certain access and actions to specific IP addresses within the organization. Unique login credentials per user required, all transactions processed under those credentials are linked to that specific user, making it easy to record audit trails.
Argon supports the ability to process multiple items in the same transaction, making it quicker and easier for store clerks to serve large amounts of customers during peak hours. So clients who are looking to recharge more than one mobile phone, can do so with one quick transaction. It allows the option to purchase data bundles and plans directly, removing the prior need to purchase top up first and then transfer that balance into a data plan. The platform is designed to work seamlessly on mobile phones, computers or tablets, enabling users to complete transactions in just a few clicks.
Argon provides transparency for TSTT to manage its authorized channel partners more closely, pushing to reach targets while creating incentives for specific products. The platform allows store owners to view their sales data and track their progress towards meeting their goals. This information is then used by TSTT to identify top-performing partners and drive others to increase their sales.
Argon is designed to be compatible with any computer, tablet, or mobile device, making it easier and less expensive for retail stores to deploy. The platform is also user-friendly, requiring minimal training for store clerks to use. Typically only requiring 1 training session, expediting the rollout process.
TSTT/bmobile has already begun deploying Argon to its Authorized bmobile Dealers nationwide. The platform, fully branded and customized to the needs of TSTT, took a rollout time of only 6 weeks. Argon can be deployed in as little as 4 weeks depending on the level of customization required by our customers.
